A 68-year-old Mount Airy woman was taken to Northern Hospital of Surry County Tuesday morning following a two-car collision at the intersection of Willow Street and Independence Boulevard.
Hallie Bates was riding in a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by 69-year-old Jerry Brannock of Mount Airy. Officer P.E. Ellis said the car collided with a 2001 Toyota Avalon being driven by Kaitlin Day, 28, of Mount Airy.
Ellis said Tuesday afternoon that he had not determined who was at fault, because both drivers claimed to have a green light.
Bates was taken to the hospital by ambulance complaining of neck pain. Both airbags in the Taurus deployed during the crash. Ellis said all parties involved were wearing their seat belts.
At first the accident was dispatched as a pin-in, but Bates was removed from the vehicle without the jaws-of-life.
He said speed was not a factor in the crash.
