School board visiting White Plains for meeting

DOBSON The Surry County Board of Education will meet Monday at 5 p.m. at White Plains Elementary School on Cadle Ford Road.
At the meeting, the board will recognize Franklin Elementary School for its work with Positive Behavior Support as well as the Surry County Schools child nutrition staff.
The board will also be asked to look at the calendar proposal for the 2010-11 school year.
Members will also hear information about the flu mist vaccine for the seasonal flu which was offered to all K-12 students free of charge. In all, about 40 percent of the student body was vaccinated.
The board will hear an update on the construction that is ongoing for Rockford Elementary School and Pilot Mountain Middle School.
Board members will be asked to approve a revision to the school policy which deals with action plans for licensed employees. The North Carolina School Boards Association provided suggested revisions to the policy.
The board members will also hear from the board chairman and the superintendent for their monthly updates.
