MOUNT AIRY Mrs. Magdalena Mary Sivel Lowry, 83, of Mount Airy, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Lowry was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Prague, Czech Republic, to the late Dr. Vaclav W. and Elizabeth Blumenthal Sivel. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Lowry was an active member of the Winston-Salem Chapter of MOAA. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Dr. Stephen A. Yokeley of Mount Airy; a granddaughter and her husband, Tiffany Yokeley Martin and Bradley of Statesville; three nieces, Suzanne Tikkanen of Burlingame, Calif., Joan Ryan Clark of Pembroke, Fla., and Sandra Ryan Musgrove of Bothell, Wash.; and three nephews, Dr. Lowry Caudill of Durham, Jack Caudill of Avon, Conn., and Joseph Trifiletti of Litchfield Beach, S.C. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lowry was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Walter Clyde Lowry Jr.; and a sister, Edith Sivel Krivy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy with Dr. Steve Lindsley officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
