Commissioners to honor Tom York today

DOBSON Tonight the Surry County Board of Commissioners are scheduled to honor the life and memory of Thomas Tom Baity York at 7 p.m.
During the meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., Wayne Sullivan with Municipal Engineering will present a progress report on the landfill cell.
Robin Testerman, Childrens Center of Surrys executive director, with present a year-end report from the child protection team.
Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital officials will present an expansion project to the board at 6:45 p.m.
At 7:30 p.m., Jack Gardin, Surry Countys Water and Sewer Projects Coordinator will discuss a Mount Airy Water Agreement.
Dennis Thompson, county manager, will also discuss general county business. Following a closed session, the board will recess until Feb. 20 at 8:15 a.m., when it will meet at the Workforce Development Center at the Surry County Human Services Building for its annual retreat.
The commissioners generally meet the first and third Monday of every month. The meetings are held at the Surry County Government Center at 118 Hamby Road in Suite 329. For more information about the meeting call 401-8201.
