MOUNT AIRY Mrs. Sarah Avis Bowlin Marion, 92, of 739 Haystack Road, Mount Airy, widow of Mr. Herman E. Marion, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2009, at Twin County Hospital in Galax, Va. She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Stokes County to the late Elijah and Minnie Holt Bowlin. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter and son-In-Law, Patricia and Charles Lockaby of Pickens, S.C.; four grandchildren, Marty Marion, Matthew Lockaby, Rebecca Lockaby and Natalie Marion; three step-grandchildren, Ashley Lockaby Luker, Allison Lockaby Winchester and Nathan Lundy; three sisters, Rachel Harris of Mount Airy, Rebecca Noonkester of Ararat, Va., and Jewel Edwards of High Point; two brothers, James Bowlin of Columbia, S.C., and Edsel Bowlin of Bassett, Va. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Marion was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Marion; a sister, Clara Johnson; and two brothers, Ervin Bowlin and Leslie Bowlin. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Joe Atkins with burial to follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m., Monday at Moody Funeral Home.
