Beat the winter doldrums and come out and play!
That is the slogan for game night at the Mount Airy Public Library which will start Jan. 8. The event, organized by Angela Llewellyn, will take place every Thursday night in January and February starting at 6 p.m.
A lot of people want the opportunity to play games but they may be by themselves, she said of what the night will provide. We have a group of friends that has always enjoyed playing games in the winter time at our house. So Ive got all these games and they ought to get some use.
Llewellyn will provide games including Pictureka, Scrabble, Boggle, Trivial Pursuit, Life, Yahtzee and Uno. She also said that anyone who wants to play a game she may not have is welcome to bring it.
The night is open to anyone who wants to play games and enjoy spending some time with others. However, she did note that children should be able to play the games themselves if their parents are not planning to stick around to help them. The games will be set up in the multipurpose room at the library and guests are welcome to bring snacks and drinks.
Hopefully we can get several games going on at one time, she said. I would like to hear some laughter and know people are having fun.
