CANA, Va. Mrs. Rita Vesta Dalton Mundy, 94, of Cana, widow of James J. Mundy, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mrs. Mundy was born in Carroll County on Oct. 18, 1914, to the late James Robert and Louemma Elizabeth Davis Dalton. She was a homemaker and a member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Colene Jones and Faye Ragland, both of Cana; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Mundy of Cana and Norris and Donna Mundy of Hillsville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Mundy of Mount Airy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Verlon and Hazel Combs and Worth Haynes. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mundy was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Mundy; a baby daughter; a son, Marvin Mundy; a grandson, Gary Mundy; and a great-grandson, Gregory Quesinberry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Fancy Gap Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dwight Sechrist, the Rev. Verlon Combs and the Rev. Tommy Vass with burial to follow in the Bobbitt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
