MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. A variety of jobs such as cooks, bartenders, spa technicians, managers and others will be available at a new lodge under construction at the upscale Primland resort in Patrick County.
Construction on the 72,000-square-foot Lodge at Primland is scheduled to be complete in late spring 2009 at Primland, a massive hunting and golf complex with a south gate at Claudville and a northern entrance at Meadows of Dan.
The facility will serve as the main lodge of the resort when completed, featuring 26 suites, a state-of-the-art spa, golf shop, dining room, recreation room and ballroom for events and meetings.
While the facility wont be finished until spring, the resort already is accepting applications to fill the positions that will be created there. One reason is the advance training that will be needed for those hired before the lodges opening.
Primland officials are working with high school representatives, local colleges and employment agencies to fill the jobs, according to an economic-development official in Patrick County.
They will include reception/front desk personnel, housekeeping workers, dining room servers, bartenders and bar runners, butler/valet personnel, locker room personnel, spa technicians and attendants, maintenance staff, laundry personnel and catering positions.
Also sought are management personnel for sales, food and beverage, dining room and other functions, along with a hotel accountant and front desk supervisor.
The exact number of positions available, which include both full- and part-time jobs, could not be obtained Friday for the project being viewed as a notable employment development for the area.
Applications can be submitted online at the Primland Web site at www.primland.com, along with resumes, and applications also can be downloaded from that site for those wishing to mail them.
