MOUNT AIRY Mr. Charles Guy McMillan, 77, of 199 W. Cleve St., Mount Airy, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1931, in Carroll County, Va., to the late Carl Guy and Lori Thomas McMillan. Mr. McMillan was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and he was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Matty of Mount Airy; two sons and daughter-in-law, Guy and Kathy McMillian of Mount Airy and Joe McMillian of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Chuck Martin, Mac McMillian, Adam McMillian and Karrie McMillian; great-grandchildren, Maddox Martin, Owen McMillian, Avery McMillian and Ava McMillian; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabeline and Bernie Mitchell of Winston-Salem, Margaret and Bobby Wall of Westfield and Madge and Aubrey Nichols of Siloam; and a sister-in-law, Doris McMillian of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. McMillan was preceded in death by his wife, Betty McMillan; brother, Garson McMillian; and nephew, Gilbert McMillian. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Jim Sincavage with interment to follow at Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #123 of Mount Airy. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home of Mount Airy. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Guy McMillian, 343 Imogene Church Road, Mount Airy. Special thanks are given to a very loved nephew, John Mark Mitchell.
