Payne-Sowers marry on Cana, Va., farm

Keisha Nichole Payne and Richard Garrett Sowers exchanged vows on June 15 at 6 p.m. at Mountain Shadows Farm in Cana, Va. Tim Crotts, pastor of Bear Trail Baptist Church, officiated.


The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Kay Payne of Cana, and granddaughter of Bill and Betty Hooven of Woodlawn, Va. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Old Dominion University in August 2012 and is employed in the mortgage department of Surrey Bank & Trust in Mount Airy.


The bridegroom is the son of Rick and Judy Sowers of Cana, and grandson of Lucy Bryant of Mount Airy. He graduated from North Surry High School, is the assistant vice president of Sowers Construction Company Inc. and the chief of the Cana Volunteer Fire Department.


The bride was given in marriage by her father.


Instrumental music for the ceremony was provided by Bruce and Gene Mosely.


The reception following the ceremony was catered by 13 Bones. The cake was provided by Granny Ruth’s Bakery.


The music and entertainment was provided by The Dennis Tolbert Band.


The couple will reside in Cana.
