Lady Bears sweep tennis 9-0 over Hounds

Mount Airy routed North Surry 9-0 in tennis on Monday.

The Lady Bears didn’t drop a set in defeating their cross-town rivals.

At the top spot, Davi Barbour beat Sarah Glasco 6-3, 6-1. Those four games that Glasco took were more than the Lady Greyhounds would get in the rest of the match combined.

Second seed Haley Thomas defeated Rebecca Parsons 6-0, 6-0. Usual second seed Abby Lawson didn’t play for the Hounds on Monday.

Third seed Bree Hughes beat Hannah Southern 6-0, 6-0.

Jai Daniels defeated Taylor Tickle 6-0, 6-1.

Fifth seed Carley VanHoy swept Bailey Atkins 6-0, 6-0. Sixth seed Bailey Jackson won over Cassidy Willard 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Thomas and VanHoy won 8-1 over Parsons and Southern.

Barbour and Jackson defeated Glasco and Tickle 8-0. And Hughes and Daniels defeated Atkins and Willard 8-0.

Mount Airy hosts North Stokes today, while North Surry travels to West Stokes.
