DOBSON — The Surry Central football team will host Elkin on Friday night and meet them with a 2-1 record, their only loss so far has been to the East Surry Cardinals.

Elkin will come into the match 1-1 to meet the Golden Eagles.

Central’s Head Coach Monty Southern said Elkin is a very athletic team and is aware they have the potential for speed.

He said the Golden Eagles, defensively, will not give up the deep pass, since they will be facing an all-conference quarterback, Josh Strickland, from Elkin. He expects to get pressure on Strickland, he said.

Southern said the offensive line has gelled recently and shown a lot of pride in “getting after people.” Quarterback Alex Martin can run or throw and has been getting good protection from the offensive line.

Southern said Raymond Salazar ability to finish runs remains a factor.

“He is a good athlete and I know he will get a lot of attention,” said Southern.

Leading in yards on the ground and also with good hands is Andrew Hegler. Kenyon Martin also will possess a threat because of his speed and runback potential for the Golden Eagles.

Southern said the defensive line improved in particular against Wilkes Central and has gotten better each game.

Splitting duty, showing depth which equals the potential for great field position for the Golden Eagles will be kickers Uriel Secondino, Jose Alvalos, and Victor Solis. All three are soccer players for Surry Central.
