Weather moves sporting events

Staff Report

April 15, 2014

Tuesday’s rain halted all outdoor sports. Here is a rundown of schedule changes.

Three events were moved to today. They are Surry Central’s home baseball game with West Stokes, North Surry’s home tennis match with West Stokes and North Surry’s softball game at Forbush.

In order to have baseball at home, Central’s softball game with North Forsyth was changed from home to away.

Mount Airy already was scheduled to host tennis today, but was expecting it to be the semifinals of the Northwest Conference Tournament. Instead, today will be the opening round and the quarterfinals.

These events will be played on Thursday: Mount Airy baseball and softball at home with Atkins, North baseball with Forbush, and Central’s softball game at West Stokes.

Mount Airy’s Surry County Invitational track meet (which includes North, Central and East Surry) will take place on Friday.

Mount Airy and East Surry’s soccer match has not been rescheduled yet. The coaches are tentatively aiming for May 5.

East Surry hasn’t scheduled a new date yet for its baseball and softball games at North Stokes.
