Rev. Allen Eugene Morrison of Pilot Mountain passed away June 6, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was 84 years old. Born July 19, 1929, Allen grew up in Burlington, NC, and graduated from King College in Bristol, TN, and Louisville Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He served churches in Kentucky, Missouri, West Virginia and North Carolina for more than 40 years and was a member of Salem Presbytery. He served 15 years in the U.S. Army and National Guard as a chaplain with the rank of major. He was a Lions Club member for many years and was an active member of the Pilot Mountain Civic Club. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Jean Handy Morrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Priscilla Morrison (Eric) Badgett of King, NC; Sarah Morrison (Gary)Adams of Pilot Mountain; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Joseph Harvey (Marlis) Morrison of Gastonia, NC; Samuel David (Tammy) Morrison of Florence, KY; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca Jordan Badgett and Justin Thomas Badgett of King, NC, Amy Leigh Morrison (Jonathan) Steele of Crittenden, KY; Matthew David (Stacie) Morrison of Union, KY, and Jack Allen Morrison of Florence, KY, and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Carole Medlin, of York, SC, two sisters-in-law, Dottie Morrison of Rock Hill, SC, and Betty Morrison of Charlotte, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Hough Morrison and Julius Ellis Morrison, Jr., a sister, Mary Louise Morrison, and two brothers, William Harvey Morrison and Samuel White Morrison. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday evening, June 8, at Howell-Nelson Funeral Home in Pilot Mountain. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, at First Presbyterian Church in Pilot Mountain with the Rev. Kristi Rollison officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Pilot Mountain, P.O.
