DOBSON — Mrs. Arbutus Coleman Potts Phillips, 71, of Dobson, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born July 23, 1940, in Mingo County, W.Va., to the late Frank and Dolly Coleman. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She is survived by her daughters, Rena Atkinson and husband Charles of Dobson, Diane Owens and husband Les of Venus, Texas, Delilah Morgan and husband Danny of Cleburne, Texas, and Teresa Smallwood of Mount Airy; sons, James Timothy Potts and fiancée Donna Hanson of Alvarado, Texas, Jamie Sampson Potts of Mount Airy and Edson Potts of Cleburne, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary McBride of Mount Airy, Rosetta Griffith and husband Harley of Mount Airy and Gail Burnell and husband Mike of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her first husband, James Green Potts; second husband, Jack Edward Phillips; sisters, Geraldine McBride and Ethel Mae Ables; and brothers, Roger Lee Coleman and Kenneth Coleman. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Nolan Bentley with interment to follow at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy.
