GREENSBORO — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots girls lost their first match of the season last night against the New Garden Friends Bears.

The scored ended with the Bears winning a 50-29 victory against the Patriots.

The Runnin’ Patriots were undefeated until last night and are now 8-1. Head Coach Todd Hill said, “The team did not swallow the loss well.”

The guards for the Bears were strong and quick and the best the team had seen all season, Hill said.

He added, “We will be prepared to meet them next time.”

The Pats will play the New Garden girls two more times this season.

Last night’s team leaders were: Sydney Bedsaul scoring 15 points; Joye Harrison with eight rebounds; Ashley Marshall with 12 rebounds; and Emily Marshall with five rebounds.

The Patriots will play at home at the Armfield Civic Center against Stateline Rush on Friday.
