The White Plains Christian School girls basketball team lost to Sheets Memorial on Monday by a score of 35-13, but the boys team won 44-40.

Assistant Coach Kayla Tucker said that the girl’s team would have to press more to earn their first season win.

The girls team record is 0-2, so far this year.

Tucker said, “The girls have been playing since the ninth grade but so far have lacked hustle this year.

“Our strength is our quickness, but we would like to see more endurance. We are looking for an increase in offense and to attack more in defense,” said Tucker about the girls team.

The top scorers for the White Plain’s girls were Ashley Tucker with eight points, and Ericka Sawyers with four points.

Tucker said the boys have had a good year so far and are a perfect 2-0. This is a complete turnaround for a team that did not have a win last year, Tucker said.

The White Plains boys top scorer of the game was Tyler Yarborough, who scored 14 points.

Other White Plains lead scorers included: Zane Eaton with 10 points and five assists; and Caleb Hall with 10 points and three assists. Also for the team, Isaac Brewster scored two, Johnathan Brewster scored four and Dillon Shockley scored three points.

“We have really improved this year so far. They are playing more team ball and are scoring more offensively. They are moving the ball around and looking for the open shot.”
