• Jam sessions will be held every Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Willis Gap Community Center. Jammers of all skill levels are invited to attend. Enjoy a night of fun, food, friends and fellowship while hearing bluegrass, old-time, country and gospel music. Admission is free.

• The Surry Arts Council presents clogging workshops and classes taught by Samantha Wilhelmi. These clogging lessons are perfect for all ages and dance abilities, from beginner to advanced. Workshops will be held before the monthly Old-Time Dances in the Old-Time Music Hall, below the Andy Griffith Museum in Mount Airy, 218 Rockford St., from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The workshop is free with the purchase of a dance ticket. The dance starts at 7 p.m. and admission is $5. Popular old-time dance band The Slate Mountain Ramblers will provide the music for the dance. The Old-Time Dance and Clogging Workshop are held on the first Saturday of every month. Also, Wilhelmi is teaching clogging classes every Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Surry Arts Council dance room. • The Surry Arts Council presents The Andy Griffith Museum. The museum is adjacent to the Andy Griffith Playhouse, 218 Rockford St., Mount Airy. Eng and Chang Bunker, the world famous pair of conjoined twins, lived most of their lives and raised their families in Mount Airy. Dozens of Bunker descendants still reside in the area. The Surry Arts Council operates an exhibit on the renowned Siamese Twins. The collection is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Admission is a minimum donation of $3 per person. • Blue Ridge Elementary School, 5135 Ararat Highway, Ararat, Va., will host a Miche bingo with doors opening at 6 p.m. and bingo at 7 p.m. Food will be available starting at 6 p.m. Packages for $20 and $30 are available combining bingo games, coveralls and door prize chances, and individually 20 bingo games cost $20, a coverall card is $2.50 and door prize tickets are $1. Players who purchase a 20 game pack, either individually or in a package, can purchase another 20 game pack for $10.

Dec. 1

• The Surry Early College High School Boosters will be hosting bingo with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo at 6 p.m. at the Early College on the SCC campus. The coverall prize is a 32-inch television. Cost of $25 includes 20 games, one coverall card and six door prize tickets. Prizes were donated by Food Lion, thirty-one, Premier Designs, Lowe’s Hardware, Advance Auto Parts and more. Concessions will include hot dogs, pizza, desserts, drinks and more.

Dec. 2

•A “One Stop Holiday Shop” will be set up at Reeves Community Center gym, 113 Renfro St., Mount Airy, from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be a wide variety of vendors set up, pictures can be made with Santa and those attending can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. • The Senior Centers of Surry County and Mount Airy Parks and Recreation/Reeves Community Center in partnership with one another are hosting the annual Senior Christmas Dance for those ages 50 and older from 7 to 10 p.m. in the L.H. Jones Auditorium, 215 Jones School Road, Mount Airy. The event will feature live entertainment by the Stan Bobbitt Band, refreshments and door prizes. Only 75 tickets will be sold at a cost of $10, in advance only. Purchase tickets at the Surry Senior Center, Pilot Senior Center or Reeves Community Center.
