To the victor go the spoils.

And those spoils will be going to the Mount Airy Public Library in the form of a $5,000 grant from Lego, a victory the library will be celebrating with a party on Saturday at 11 a.m. — and the community is invited to attend.

The library won the contest, sponsored by LEGO and the Association for Library Services to Children, which consisted of a nationwide online voting poll. The rules were simple, whichever library received the most votes from the general populous won the grant.

Mount Airy easily walked away with the prize, garnering 100,725 votes, more than double the second place total of 47,622 tallied by the Heights Community Library of Houston, Texas.

Now, the Mount Airy library is celebrating and officials there say the hope the community will join them.

The party consists of refreshments, a LEGO story time, a drawing for a LEGO set donated by Mayberry Toy Co., other drawing for books fro the Scholastic Book Fair, and an appearance by Bob the Builder.
