HUDSON — Three East Surry High School students have brought back top honors in the Future Business Leaders Association (FBLA) Regional Competition.
“I am very proud of my students and the goals they have achieved. I hope they will continue to strive to be leaders in our community,” said Sereena Church, East Surry FBLA adviser and business teacher.
Church announced that East Surry’s Autumn Arnder brought home first place in the Job Interview portion of the competition which consists of a letter of application, resume, a job application form and an interview. Nicholas Wass finished second in the Future Business Leader competition which requires participants to submit a letter of application and resume, an objective test and an interview. Elizabeth Shelton received recognition for placing third in parliamentary procedure testing.
Church indicated this event is designed to provide recognition for the FBLA with an understanding of and skill in basic parliamentary procedures. The three will advance in their respective events to FBLA State Leadership competition in Greensboro in April. Winners in the state event could continue to the National Leadership competition in Anaheim, Calif., next year.
She explained participants from across the northwestern part of North Carolina attended the conference to sharpen their core business skills, make important professional contacts and participate in more than 20 business and business-related competitive events.
