The Lady Greyhounds beat Mount Airy 18-0 in five innings Wednesday.

North Surry batted around in the first inning.

Molly Martin got things started by reaching on a walk, then she stole second base.

Hannah Goins drove home the first two runs with a single through the right side of the infield.

Marlee Bunker started the game on the mound for North, then Hayley Tickle preserved the shutout. The game ended early on the 10-run rule, which means the game goes to five innings before stopping at 10 runs. The score was 14-0 going into the fifth inning.

“It was a good team effort all around,” said North Coach Willie Hodges. “They came out ready to play ball tonight.”

The game originally was set for North Surry on Tuesday, but with rainfall, the game was moved to Mount Airy for Wednesday.

In return, the April 9 rematch slated for Mount Airy will be played at North Surry instead.

The Hounds host West Stokes on Friday, while Mount Airy goes to Surry Central.
