DANBURY — North Surry won its second-straight baseball game with a 14-1 rout of North Stokes.

On Friday, the Greyhounds (2-1) edged South Stokes 6-5, but they took the drama out of this one early.

“I was very pleased with our pitching,” said Coach Travis Gammons, who said at the start of the season that pitching depth could be a strength this year.

“Logan Sawyers, Tanner Hodgin and Nolan Stanley all pitched extremely well,” he said. They allowed just one run in five innings before the offense ended the day early with 10-run lead.

Gammons said the offense was nicely spread out.

“I thought all of us did a good job for us at the plate,” he said.

As for North Stokes, Gammons pointed out that the Vikings have just three seniors and play a lot of young guys who will improve with playing time.

On Monday, the Hounds travel to North Wilkes. Then on Tuesday they host rival Mount Airy.
