WALNUT COVE — East Surry bounced back from two losses to beat South Stokes 4-1 Friday night.
The team had lost to conference leaders Mount Airy and West Stokes in the past week, but got a solid pitching performance from Drew Wilson to get back to its winning ways.
The Cardinals (3-2) scored one run in each of the first, third, fifth and sixth innings.
South Stokes scored its one run in the bottom of the sixth off a double.
Wilson only allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 10 batters, said Coach Barry Hall. He did a really good job.
The Cards had some timely hitting down through the lineup, he said.
Wilson helped his own cause with an RBI hit. Younger brother Alec Wilson was 2-3 with an RBI.
Logan Sheets was 2-4, and Cody Ashburn was 2-3.
The Cardinals travel to Chatham Central today for a 2 p.m. game. Then they travel to Surry Central on Tuesday.
