A couple of warm days brings spring fever to the forefront. We are just ready for the cold air to vanish with a poof, and the warm air of spring to be upon us full-time.

Already I’ve brought out a couple of spring outfits and worn my dress sandals twice this week, but the toes don’t really think it’s warm enough to do that every day yet.

And just as we are getting used to the 60- and 70-degree days, Mother Nature brings a cool wind to chill it down and a chance of snow showers this weekend?

While the dogwoods and Bradford pears are starting to show some blooms, the jonquils are blooming, the sprouts of daylilies are starting to pop out of the ground, area meteorologists have injected the word snow into the equation.

This year hasn’t been much of a winter-weather maker, with school only being missed one or two days, and no real accumulation that lasted more than a few hours — at least for our area.

Strangely enough, the Triangle area and the beach got more snow than we did this year.

But now, it’s time for spring to come. It’s time for the outdoor ball games and sports to be more enjoyable without having to sit in freezing cold temperatures for two hours watching an event. It’s time for the kids to be able to play on the playground without being bundled in three layers of clothes. It’s time for the area walking trails to be packed with people exercising and enjoying nature and the outdoors.

Memorial Day may be the unofficial start to summer, but Easter is the time we look at for starting to wear the pastel colors, the open-toe sandals, the crop pants and short sleeves.

And it just means that vacations, Pilot Mountain’s Mayfest, proms, graduation, area cruise-ins, farmers markets and more are just around the corner.

We all get a little spring fever, and this week, the week leading up to Palm Sunday and then Easter, is that week for me. It’s time to bring on the warm weather. We’re ready for it.
