Walter Gray and Shirley Tucker Nichols, of Pilot Mountain, marked 60 years of marriage recently.
They were married on July 7, 1956, at Friendship Baptist Church in East Bend, NC, by the bride’s father, Rev. George A. Tucker.
Their children along with their spouses gave them a surprise party on July 2, 2016, at their home. It was very relaxed and casual and BBQ style food was served.
The couple have two sons, David and Julie Nichols of Shelbyville, TN and Stephen Nichols and Susan Queen of Pilot Mountain. They have one daughter, Regina Winning and Tracy Morrow of Pfafftown, NC.
Mr. and Mrs. Nichols have three grandchildren, Corey Hunt, USAF, Yuba City, CA, Madeline Winning, Pfafftown, NC and Rylee Nichols, Shelbyville, TN. They have one great-grandchild, Dahlia Jo Hunt, Yuba City, CA.
Mr. Nichols is retired from Wayne Farms, Inc. and Surry County School System. Mrs. Nichols is retired from US Airways and YVEDDI.
