Surry County’s Extension and Community Association Clubs have a number of new opportunities for county residents to join in learning, fellowship and fun. Clubs offer a variety of times, places and topics that may appeal to many. Please feel free to call get further information.
Here is what is happening in May 2016.
The Beulah Club with President Goldie Sparger, 336-352-4761, meets the third Tuesday, at 7 p.m. at the Beulah Ruritan Building on Route 89 West. The May 10 meeting program will be “Yoga for Seniors.”
The Busy Bees Club with President Lucy Brown, 336-786-4261, meets the first Tuesday of the month at different restaurants. They will be meeting later in May this time. Their program will involve “Repurposing”. With everyone aware of the values of recycling this will be a fun program.
The Pilot Mountain Achievers Club with President Marilyn Geiger, 910-797-4901, usually meets the third Thursday of each month at 9:15 in the Armfield Senior Room in Pilot Mountain. However, in May PMA members will have the opportunity to attend two special events. The first is Leader Lesson Training in Elkin on May 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. where information on a variety of topics will be shared. All ECA members are encouraged to attend. On May 24 the annual Achievement Day dinner will be held at 6 p.m. in the Viticulture Building at SCC. Individual and club volunteer hours plus ECA scholarship winners will be recognized during the evening’s program.
The Siloam Club with President Carol Simpson, 336-757-2257, will meet Monday, May 9, at 7 p.m. in the Siloam Baptist Church. Pat Chrissman will be presenting a program on the values of vitamin C.
The White Sulfur Springs Club with President Ann Davis, 336-836-0058, usually meets the third Tuesday each month at 10:30 a.m. in the N. Main Church of Christ, Fellowship Room in Mount Airy. May 6th—Our annual rummage sale will be held at the Family Resource Center in Mount Airy, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is a fund raiser. All proceeds go back into the community. Please come.
The Dobson Early Birds Club with President Kathy Hemmings, 336-356-2043, usually meets the third Wednesday at 11 a.m. but due to illness plans are currently indefinite.
The Good Neighbor Club with Glenda Hunter, 336-351-3269 will be attending this year’s Achievement Day.
The Salem Fork Club with President Jean Hardy, 336-366-4530, meets the second Tuesday at 10 a.m. They will be meeting at Twelve Oaks and their program will center on art projects.
