RSVP holds blood drive

The Yadkin Valley Economic Development District Retired and Senior Volunteer Program recently held a community blood drive that attracted 29 donors.

The event, held March 29, is part of a regular effort by the organization and the Surry chapter of The American Red Cross to hold regular blood drives. One is held the first Monday of each month in Mount Airy, from 1:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Those interested in donating, which can be done every eight weeks, can call (336) 816-6280 or call 1-800 Red Cross.

The senior volunteer program serves to engage persons 55 and older in volunteer services to meet community needs in Davie, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin counties, according to information released by the group. Anyone interested in volunteering with the agency should contact Debra Caudle, RSVP field specialist, at (336) 786-6155 ext.232.
