A local dentist and his staff recently treated 131 patients during a day-long free clinic.
Dr. John Gravitte and his team had more than 40 volunteers show up to help with a free dental clinic in April, according to executive assistant Abby Koubenec.
This was the practice’s second free clinic after an inaugural event last year. Gravitte is expecting to make this an annual event, which is held as part of a local effort affiliated with Dentistry From The Heart. Dentistry From The Heart, based in New Port Richey, Florida, is a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free dental care to those in need.
Every year, thousands of individual dentists, hygienists, volunteers, and hundreds of practices across the world donate their time and resources to host their own event.
Dentistry From The Heart was founded by Dr. Vincent J. Monticciolo 14 years ago. Since then, the effort has grown to more than 300 events per year helping thousands of patients and giving millions in free dentistry.
On the same day that Dr. Gravitte held his event, five other dental clinic also took part in San Jose, California, Fort Worth and Jackson, Texas, Quincy, Massachusetts, and Jasper, Indiana.
