DOBSON — A Mount Airy man recently released from prison for a drug conviction was arrested last week on a felony drug possession charge, according to a statement released by Surry County Sheriff’s Office.
The statement indicated that narcotics detectives had assisted the Department of Community Corrections at the home of Ricky Allen Cook Jr., 30, of Pottery Lane, who was allegedly found in possession of four grams of methamphetamine, according to the statement.
Cook told officers at the time of his arrest that he had been released from a Virginia prison three weeks ago, according to the statement.
He was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and scheduled to appear in court on June 29 under a $50,000 secured bond.
As of Monday, Cook was in the custody of the Surry County Detention Center.
• In a separate arrest, narcotics and patrol officers responding to a citizens complaint at a residence on White Pines Country Club Road in Mount Airy encountered two individuals with outstanding warrants, one who allegedly was found in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Michael William Leftwich, 43, was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
He was also served with an order for arrest on an outstanding warrant for driving while license revoked.
Leftwich was released from custody under a $10,300 total secured bond and scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
Catherine Tiffin Spainhour, 26, was arrested for failure to appear on charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, possession of stolen goods.
She is in the custody of the Surry County detention center under a $10,000 secure bond with a court date of July 12.
