Two Mount Airy High School students were recently recognized with year-end awards.

Will Zeller was presented with the Charlotte Weatherly Yokley Memorial Award and Ashleigh Gilbert was presented with the Charlotte Weatherly Yokley scholarship during a recent assembly at the school.

Will is the son of Joy Zeller and Ken Zeller. The memorial award is based on “excellence in scholarship, sports, and elected office,” award organizers said. The honor is voted on by the Mount Airy High School faculty.

Will plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall. The award was presented to him by Pam Yokley and Bree Hughes, the 2015 winner.

Ashleigh is the daughter of Kimberly and Glenn Gilbert. She plans to attend Surry Community College in the fall. The scholarship was presented to Ashleigh by Pam Yokley and Allyson Yokley Ferguson.
