Staff Report

Despite the uncertainty over the NC New Schools collapse, local school districts must finalize their annual budgets.

Mount Airy City Schools and Surry County Schools announced previously unplanned meetings for this week.

MACS just met last week but has a special business meeting planned for this afternoon at the central office on Rawley Avenue.

The agenda for the 1:15 p.m. meeting includes:

• end-of-year budget amendments

• approval of an interim budget resolution

• approval of the Title I plan

• approval of the AIG plan

• a closed session

The Surry County Board of Education will conduct a special meeting on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the administrative offices on Crutchfield Street in Dobson.

The school board stated in the announcement, “The purpose of the meeting is to consider end-of-year budget amendments and student-transfer requests. This meeting may include a closed session as permitted by applicable law.”
