Chandler Branch, the 11 year-old son of David and Candi Branch of Zephyr, won the prize of Grand Champion at the North Carolina State Fair.

He and his sister, AvaReese Branch, show heifers and steers. Chandler started showing livestock at age 6 and has bought his own heifers and steers, according to his parents.

“He now owns six head of his own, mainly Simmental and some have fall calves on them” his mother, Candi Branch, said. “The calf he won Grand Champion with … was a calf that he raised and is very proud of. Her name is CDB Rockin Sadie (Sadie) and she is a purebred Simmental.”

These are not Chandler’s first ribbons. He recently won Grand Champion Simmental and Reserve Supreme Heifer at the Stokes County Fair with Sadie. He also won Reserve Grand Champion at Dixie Classic Fair earlier this year.
