DOBSON — A Mount Airy man was recently charged in connection with a June break-in and subsequent theft of a motor vehicle.
The suspect, Joshua Wayne Potts, 27, of Pine Ridge Road, was arrested Nov. 4 and faces felony violations of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods or property and larceny of a motor vehicle.
According to Sgt. Det. J.S. Briles, of the Surry County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged victim of the crime, Jimmy Zachery Lowe, of Karens Trail, Dobson, reported his garage broken into and vehicle keys stolen on June 15.
The vehicle was later reported stolen on July 3.
Potts was confined in the Surry County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 6.
• A traffic stop led to the arrest of Kevin Danley Jr., 23, who was allegedly found in possession of marijuana and two grams of methamphetamine, according to an Oct. 29 report. Danley was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Briles said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14.
• Susan Gates, of Hall Street, Mount Airy, reported the theft of a car-hauling trailer on Oct. 28. The report describes the trailer as black in color with a permanent North Carolina license plate. The trailer was valued at $2,500. The theft has been entered into the National Crime Information Center. The case is under investigation with no suspects at this time, according to Briles.
• On Oct. 28, Joseph Lineberry, of Greenhouse Trail, Lowgap, reported the theft of a push lawn mower from his property. The Murray mower was described as black in color and valued at $150.
