Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church and its pastor, Dr. David Sparks, will host a multi-denominational Thanksgiving Worship Service on Sunday evening, Nov. 20 at 5:50 p.m. This will be the only Community Thanksgiving Service sponsored by the Mount Airy Ministerial Association this year.
Members of all denominations are invited to attend, and Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson will deliver the sermon. Pastors from other denominations will also take part in the service which will last approximately one hour.
A 20-minute Thanksgiving Musical Presentation will be provided by the Host Church Choir combined with the Flippin Memorial Baptist Church Choir at 5:50 p.m., singing some familiar Thanksgiving hymns. This will be followed by a congregational hymn sing before the worship service begins at 6:10 p. m. The service will end at 7 p.m. with the benediction given by Fr. Larry Heiney. The church will then provide refreshments following the service in their Fellowship Hall.
The church is located on Highway 103 about 1.5 miles past Reeves Community Center. This worship service is in cooperation with the Mount Airy Ministerial Association.
“We greatly appreciate this church’s invitation to join them in this special time of worship and praise to thank God for the many wonderful blessings He has given to us,” the ministerial association said in announcing the service. “Please try to join us and bring friends with you to join together in Christian worship and fellowship.”
