Laken Michelle Hall and Tyler Lee Simpson were married at 2 p.m. on July 20, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The Rev. Sammy Lawson officiated.
The bride is the daughter of John and Michelle Hall of Mount Airy. She is the granddaughter of Peggy Grider of Cana, Va., and Julie Gwynn of Mount Airy and the late Homer Hall of Greensboro. She is the great-niece of the late Virginia Stevens of Cana.
She will graduate from UNC-Greensboro in May 2014,with a bachelor of science in middle school education.
The groom is the son of Rodney and Amy Simpson of Ararat. He is the grandson of Bobby and Bonnie Watson of Mount Airy, and Brent Simpson and the late Jeanette Simpson of Ararat, and the great-grandson of Hester Simpson of Ararat.
The groom graduated from Surry Community College in 2010 with a degree in welding. He is employed with John Deere-Hitachi in Kernersville.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
The maid of honor was Jessica Jones of Cana.
The bridesmaids were Tori Nelson, Chelsea Brintle, Amanda King, and Karson Norman.
The flower girls were Kyley Cain, cousin of the bride, and Taylin Leftwich, cousin of the groom.
The best man was the father of the groom, Rodney Simpson.
The groomsmen were Kyle Simpson, Todd Sands, Steven Norman, and Kade Norman.
The ring bearer was Memphis Jones, the son of the maid of honor.
A reception given by the bride’s parents followed the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.
The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner the night before at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Watson in Mount Airy.
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds went on a cruise in the Bahamas.
They live in Greensboro.
