Mount Airy crushed Walkertown in a very fast tennis match Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bears won every game in both singles and doubles over the Lady Wolfpack, which pushes the Bears record to 2-1, all in Northwest Conference play.
All six singles matches went 6-0, 6-0, and the doubles matches were 8-0.
At the top spot, Bailey Jackson beat Lindsay Young as Bree Hughes rested a sore back.
Carley VanHoy beat Caryn Fletcher. Jai Daniels beat Alana Plowden.
Elizabeth Marion beat Brittany Culver. Carly Clark topped Mary Marshall.
Sixth seed Coleman Craddock won by default as the Wolfpack brought just five players.
Jackson/VanHoy topped Young/Fletcher, and Daniels/Clark beat Plowden/Culver in doubles. Marion and Craddock won by default.
Coach Rodney Pell noted that this was Marion’s first career singles match, playing a seeded match for the first time as a freshman. Pell expects good things from the young woman.
The Bears travel to rival North Surry today and then host Forbush on Thursday.
