Solomon–Dunford wedding ceremony performed at Grace Moravian Church
Erika Elizabeth Solomon and Tyler Lee Dunford were united in marriage on June 1 at Grace Moravian Church, Mount Airy. The Rev. Dr. Jon Cawley officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Dale Fleming of Mount Airy. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Wilma Fleming and Mrs. Trudy Solomon, and the late Ms. Linda Massey, Mr. Sol Solomon and Mr. Burl Fleming. Erika graduated from North Carolina State University in 2011 summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences. She is employed at Duke Human Vaccine Institute.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. R. Greg Dunford of Whitsett and Mrs. Kathy Squires-Black of Winston-Salem. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Julian Dunford and the late Ms. Helen Squires and Ms. Willie Poff. Tyler graduated from North Carolina State University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in science education. He is employed at Merck.
Her parents gave the bride in marriage. She wore an ivory Allure bridal taffeta ball gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline and ruched bodice. The waistline is accented with beading, Swarovski crystals, and a full ball gown skirt. To accompany the gown, the bride wore a cathedral-length custom veil trimmed with handcrafted beading and embroidery. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of pink peonies.
Meredith Slate of Raleigh was maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Candace Jackson of Raleigh; Nicole Martin of Cary; Kristen Cayton of Ahoskie; Lauren Stiegel of Raleigh; and Lauren O’Doherty of Washington, D.C. They wore champagne colored chiffon strapless cocktail dresses with a soft sweetheart neckline by Bill Levkoff. They carried hand-tied bouquets of white hydrangeas.
Grant Dunford of King served as his brother’s best man. The groomsmen were John Peart of Raleigh; Todd Solomon, brother of the bride, of Tampa, Fla.; Andrew White of Ames, Iowa; Steven Gerardi of Charlotte; and Cormac O’Doherty of Washington, D.C. Ushers were Tyler Massey of Raleigh; Nate Peifer of Garner; and Josh Earp of Raleigh.
Annie Hogan of Durham and Christine Smith of Carrboro were the program attendants, and Sarah Spitzfaden of Raleigh was the guest book attendant.
The wedding musician was Kathy Pruett, organist, of Mount Airy. Rebecca M. Payne of Mount Airy was the wedding director, and Anna Johnson of Mount Airy was the photographer. Helen Patterson of Mount Airy and Kim Taylor of Winston-Salem dressed the bride.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at Cross Creek Country Club in Mount Airy. Greeters at the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moody and Carrie Massey, all of Mount Airy. Music was provided by DJ Randy “Bad Boy” Smith.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the bridegroom’s parents, was held Friday evening at Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork, Va.
An engagement party, bridal showers, couples shower and bridal brunch were previously hosted by friends and family of the bride and groom.
