Childress-Cartwright exchange vows
Wendy Smith Childress and Jeffrey Scott Cartwright exchanged wedding vows June 1 at 5 p.m. in a rustic farm setting on the Cartwright Farm in Westfield. Kelly Giese was the officiating minister.
The bride is the daughter of Maxine F. Smith of Ararat, Va., and the late Wendell G. Smith. Her grandparents are the late Madge Weaver and the late Mr. and Mrs. W.H. (Buster) Smith. She is a graduate of Salem College and is employed by the Surry County Schools as a teacher at Pilot Mountain Middle School.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cartwright of Westfield. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Woodrow Nunn and the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Matthew Cartwright. He is employed by Wake Forest Baptist Health.
The bride was escorted by her sons, Alex and Max Childress. Amanda Holt served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth and Camille Cartwright, daughters of the groom.
The flower girls were Savannah and Brooklyn Smith of Richmond, Va., nieces of the bride.
Serving as best man was Jack Nunn, uncle of the groom. The groomsmen were Alex and Max Childress, sons of the bride. Chad Smith of Richmond, brother of the bride, served as usher.
Maggie Holt presided as the guest register, and Teresa Hooser of Pilot Mountain directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the bride’s mother at the farm.
The couple will make their home in Westfield.
