Emily Burns and Jordan White marry in afternoon ceremony in Salisbury
Emily Marie Burns and Jordan David White exchanged vows on June 1 in a 2:30 p.m. ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Salisbury. The Rev. Kenneth Lance officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Jerrie Burns of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Larry and Lynda Burns of Salisbury and Gerald and Dorcas Osborne of Cleveland. She graduated from West Rowan High School in 2007 and from Wingate University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in human services.
The groom is the son of Ricky and Kathy White of Elkin and the grandson of Gray and Linda White of Elkin and Polly Hall and the late J.D. Hall of Lowgap. Honorary grandparents are Ted and Donese Medley of Elkin. He is a 2008 honor graduate from Surry Central High School and a 2012 honor graduate from Wingate University with a Bachelor of Science in business management and a minor in pre-law.
The bride’s dress was made by the her grandmother, Lynda Burns, who also helped the bride design the dress. The strapless dress of ivory satin and organza was designed with a fitted bodice of crisscross ruching. Flowing from the sash was a ruffled rosette cascading midway down the front of the dress. The rosette was centered with her grandmother’s rhinestone pin. The back bodice was accented with organza roses sprinkled with rhinestones, with rhinestone buttons down the center of the back. The fitted skirt fishtailed into a chapel train with vertical organza ruffles cascading from the waist line and topped with a satin bow to complete the back interest of the dress.
Natalie Burns, sister of the bride, of Salisbury, and Emily King of Charlotte served as maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Amy Frederick of Hillsborough; Jamie Lybrand of Shelby; Lauren Sloop of Concord; Susan Behrooz of Charlotte; Rachel Graham of Salisbury; and Brooke White, sister-in-law of the groom, of Dobson.
The flower girl was Kayla Burns, cousin of the bride, of Salisbury. The ring bearer was Kasen White, cousin of the groom, of Elkin.
The groom’s father was the best man. The groomsmen included Jacob White, brother of the groom, of Dobson; Bryce Burns, brother of the bride, of Salisbury; Eric High of Dobson; Aaron Moser of Dobson; Adam Stanley of Dobson; Drew White, cousin of the groom, of Elkin; and Daniel McKay of Clinton.
Music for the ceremony was provided by soloists Kim Lance of Salisbury and David King of China Grove. The harpist was Rose Abernathy, cousin of the bride, of Conover, and the organist and pianist was Libby Carlton of Salisbury.
The reception was held at the Country Club of Salisbury. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Country Club of Salisbury, hosted by the groom’s parents.
Music and entertainment was provided by Dana Grubb.
A bridesmaids luncheon hosted by the bride and her mother was held at the Country Club of Salisbury. The bridal couple was honored at several events prior to the wedding.
After a wedding trip in Charleston, S.C., the couple will live in the home of the groom’s great-grandparents in Elkin.
