RONDA — Surry Central’s girls tennis team improved to 3-0 with an 8-1 win against East Wilkes on Monday.


Marlee Wilmoth and Stephanie Boone each went to third-set tiebreakers to win at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Sommer Chilton, Mallory Wilmoth and Olivia Fowler also won in singles. Hope Henson won her first set but lost the second and the tiebreaker at No. 5 singles.


Marlee Wilmoth and Chilton teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles. Mallory Wilmoth and Fowler won at No. 2 and Henson and Anna Senter earned a victory at No. 3 to give the Eagles the sweep in doubles.


Central travels to North Stokes today.
