RALEIGH — Senior Vice President for Academic Programs Denise Rotondo announced that 487 undergraduate students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Meredith College.
For a student to be named to the dean’s list at Meredith, she must have a semester grade-point-average of at least 3.5 out of a possible 4.0, must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours and passed all courses at Meredith.
Named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Meredith College were Nicole Elizabeth Lawson of Sandy Ridge; Ashley Elizabeth Branch, Pilot Mountain; Sarah Elizabeth Horton, Pilot Mountain; and Jennifer Suzanne Collins, Mount Airy.
Meredith College students officially became graduates at the College’s 2013 commencement ceremony, held on May 11 in Dorton Arena at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.
International affairs scholar Anne-Marie Slaughter, who was the first woman to serve as director of policy planning for the United States Department of State, delivered the commencement address.
About 500 degrees were conferred by Meredith College during the ceremony. Meredith conferred Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Social Work degrees upon graduates of the undergraduate program, as well as master’s degrees in business, education and nutrition. These include degrees completed in August 2012, December 2012 and May 2013. Undergraduate programs at Meredith are for women only, while graduate programs are coeducational. Chartered in 1891, Meredith College is a private, four-year, comprehensive college for women.
Receiving her B.S. degree from Meredith College on May 11 was Jennifer Suzanne Collins of Mount Airy.
