The deadline to buy dinner tickets for the Summer Thrills event to benefit The Shepherd’s House is Aug. 7. The event is scheduled to be held at Cody Creek on Aug. 10.
The dinner ticket includes the meal of smoked barbecue chicken, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls, coffee, tea and a variety of cobblers for dessert, and musical entertainment by Mezza Voce from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. There are 350 dinner tickets are available. The cost is $25 each.
“This is going to be a great night,” The Rev. Phil Goble Jr., executive director of The Shepherd’s House, said this week. “We will be holding the event in the new banquet hall at Cody Creek, and are expecting it to be a great way to end the summer.”
Also at the event, winners will drawn for four prize packages. The four packages are:
“JAWS” – Package includes a chartered half-day deep-sea fishing trip for four leaving from Wrightsville Beach including a one-night, two-room hotel stay.
“PRETTY WOMAN” – A spa package at Primland in Meadows of Dan, Va., that includes a night’s stay for two as well as dinner and breakfast.
“SHOW ME THE MONEY” – A $1,000 shopping spree at the stores of the winner’s choice. The prize will come on a pre-paid Visa card.
“THE RIFLEMAN” – Just for hunters, this package contains a Remington 870 Express 12-gauge shotgun, a Henry Lever Action 22-caliber rifle and a Keltec Compact 380 pistol.
Tickets for each drawing are $20 each. The drawings will be held throughout the evening. Tickets will be available until each package drawing.
“We wanted to have an event that had a little something for everyone,” Board Chair Farah Davis said. “This event features great music with Mezza Voce, what promises to be a wonderful dinner, and four great prize packages.”
Mezza Voce is a trio with more than 30 years combined musical experience. According to its website, Mezza Voce “has traveled the East Coast performing in events ranging from festivals to weddings, clubs and other special events.”
All proceeds for the event will benefit The Shepherd’s House, the non-profit homeless shelter on Rockford Street in Mount Airy. The Shepherd’s House, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
