Ghouls, ghosts and goblins, of both the two and four-legged variety, will be on display Saturday as Round Peak Vineyards once again goes to the dogs.

This year’s annual Howl-O-Wine event is set to get under way at 5 p.m., and run until around 9 p.m., said Jane Taylor with Mayberry4Paws.

The dog-friendly celebration of the Halloween season features plenty of food provided by Carolina Canine Rescue. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

And there will be plenty to do for both human and canine attendees.

“We’re planning to hold a doggie costume contest this year, with prizes going toward the cutest, scariest and owner-dog look-alike contest,” Taylor said, noting the contest should get under way around 7 p.m. “For the humans, we’re offering a prize for the best costume.”

In addition to the contests, visitors can sit around a camp fire and listen to ghost stories.

Taylor said she hopes the public comes out and enjoys an evening for fun and chills.

“We think this is going to be a great event this year,” she said. “There will be a lot to see and do, and everyone can enjoy a great time outdoors. We hope to see everyone there.”

While final plans are still in the works, internationally-renowned vocalist Melva Houston has said she hopes to perform during the evening.

“I’d love to do it, and am planning on being there, but I’m still trying to find an accompanist,” she said.

The event is a fund-raiser for Mayberry4Paws’ spay and neuter program, with all proceeds going toward the group.

Admission is $10 per person, with children 12 and under admitted free. All donations are tax deductible.
