Primland on ‘best of’ lists in two U.S. magazines
By John Peters
NEW YORK – Primland, a resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, recently was named to three “best of” lists by two travel magazines.
The Meadows of Dan, Va., resort will be featured in the November Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice rankings of the Top 100 Hotels and Resorts in the World. This follows by two months the resort’s selection by Travel and Leisure’s World’s Best as one of the top 50 hotels in the world. That magazine also is poised to include Primland in next month’s top 50 Family-Friendly list, according to a release from The Gardiner Consultancy, which represents Primland.
In the Conde Nast survey, Primland came in ahead of a number of notable regional competitors – Keswick Hall, Williamsburg Inn, The Greenbrier, The Homestead, Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation, Pinehurst and Barnesley Gardens. Primland also eclipsed Blackberry Farm and The Inn at Little Washington. The resort’s score of 95 ranked it in the top 20 hotels in the U.S.
“We are delighted to have made the two most important ratings by the top two U.S. travel magazines whose results appear globally,” said Steve Helms, vice president. “This is a testament to all the endeavors of our staff to deliver superior service standards which are recognized by the guests who participate in the surveys.”
“We are also thrilled that our recognition across a broad spectrum of publications is helping to raise the profile of the area around the world and bolster the local economy through direct and indirect spending,” he said.
In its report, Conde Nast said: “Paeans to the resort are many, and the refrain remains the same: ‘The closest thing to heaven!’ The staff is ‘enthusiastic and devoted’ and guests bless the ‘five-star equivalent’ New American-style preparation of local, organic food in three choices of places to dine—Elements restaurant being the ‘hardest to resist every night.’”
