• A Mount Airy woman was arrested Monday on break-in, assault and other charges, according to city police department reports. Kelly Elizabeth Strickland, 36, of 1908 Cardinal Drive, No. 9, is accused of breaking and entering, assault and battery, domestic trespassing and harassing phone calls, with warrants on the charges filed Sunday. Strickland, who additionally was served with a 50B (domestic violence) order by the Surry Sheriff’s Office, was confined in the county jail with no bond figure listed, police records show. She is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on July 9.

• Anna Lynn Conner, 45, of 328 Galloway St., is facing violations of assault and first-degree trespassing which were filed Monday night after an incident at the home of Wade Felts on East Elm Street. Conner is accused of assaulting Felts and refusing to leave the residence after being asked to, police records state. She is free on a $1,000 unsecured bond to appear in District Court on May 29.

• A larceny was discovered Monday which involved property valued at $200 being stolen from the bed of a 2006 Chevolet Colorado pickup owned by Skyler Allen Gunnoe of Hobe Sound, Fla. The theft occurred while the vehicle was at Starlite Motel, with a drink blender and motorcycle ramp among the items taken.

• Also Monday, police were told that a known individual had left the Mount Airy Oil Co. Shell station on West Lebanon Street without paying for $36 worth of gas.

• Gregory Keith Greene, 41, of 103 Apostle Drive, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury — a felony — after allegedly hitting Kayla Marie Lewis of Apostle Drive in the head with a metal chair during a disturbance on April 12 at the Habitat for Humanity headquarters on Merita Street. Severe lacerations are said to have resulted, and Greene was held in the Surry County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. His court appearance is set for May 1.

• Paula Kenette Lovill, 62, of 709 Allred Mill Road, was cited on April 12 for shoplifting/concealment at Food Lion on West Lebanon Street. Lovill was banned from the store and is scheduled to be in court on April 30.

• A case involving identity theft and financial transaction card fraud was reported on April 11, stemming from a known suspect obtaining a fraudulent EBT (electronic benefits transfer) card from the Social Security Administration using information of victim Steven Bradley Riggs of New Street. The illicitly obtained card was used to buy items valued at $138 from Food Lion on West Pine Street. The crimes occurred in March.

• Christie Lynn Hargrave, 32, of 100 Green Meadow Lane, Ararat, was arrested on April 11 on charges of child abuse and assault by pointing a gun after being located in a room at Starlite Motel during a civil disturbance. That led to outstanding warrants for arrest on the charges being discovered against Hargrave. They had been filed earlier this month, the alleged assault offense in Forsyth County and the child abuse charge in Mount Airy, with no other details listed concerning them. Hargrave was jailed under a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on May 22.

• A larceny was discovered on April 10 at LSL Auto Sales on West Pine Street, where a white tailgate to a 2006 Nissan Frontier pickup was stolen while left unattended. It is valued at $500.

• Police were told on April 9 that a black Hi-Point automatic handgun valued at $210, owned by Benjamin Tyler Simpson of Airview Drive, had been stolen while left unattended at a residence on Ashburn Park Lane.
