• The larceny of a motor vehicle was discovered Sunday at Colonial Care on Snowhill Drive, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The case involves a scooter valued at $400 being taken from that location along with a Capital One credit/debit card, both owned by Colonial Care employee Teresa Lynn Thomas of Cleo Cain Road, Pilot Mountain. The scooter is yellow and contains the letters SSM in white.


• William Chad Hawks, 31, of 702 Blackjack Road, Stuart, Va., was cited for second-degree trespassing Sunday after being found on city housing authority property on Lovill Street after having been banned from that location. Hawks is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 26.


• A break-in Friday at the apartment of Arlis Ray Collins on Cherry Street netted the theft of two LED television sets valued at $700, including a 42-inch JVC and a 32-inch Emerson. A door was pried open to gain entry, causing $100 in damage.


• Miscellaneous clothing was stolen Friday at Roses by an unknown suspect who concealed unspecified items and left the store without paying. No loss figure was listed.


• Gary Lee Collins, 61, of 163 Glen Terrace, was arrested Friday on charges of resisting a public officer and being intoxicated and disruptive after he was encountered on West Pine Street near Graves Street in reference to a civil disturbance. Collins allegedly became irate with an officer and would not obey instructions, and also pulled away while being placed under arrest. He was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $300 secured bond and slated for a Sept. 18 District Court appearance.


• Michael Shane Eller, 17, of 1525 Grassy Creek Road, Pinnacle, was cited Thursday for violating a city ordinance regarding the use of safety equipment at the skate park on Riverside Drive, after having been warned previously. Eller is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Oct. 31 and has been banned from city property for a three-month period ending Nov. 1, provided there are no further violations.
