MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. — Virginia’s hot shots and out-of-staters are set to descend on Primland Thursday for the start of the 2013 National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) State Championship sporting clays event.

The competition runs Thursday through Sunday.

More than 200 competitors are expected and more than $10,000 in prizes will be awarded in various events. They include the 200-target main event, 100-target preliminary and 50-target events.

Cash awards include $1,000 to the local Virginia champion and $500 to the runner-up.

Out-of-state entries will compete for a guaranteed top prize of $500 and $250 to the runner-up.

“We are delighted to be the venue for this event and the many subtle improvements we have made to our sporting clays range, including our newly designed 5-Stand, should challenge even the finest marksmen,” said Steve Helms, vice president of Primland.
