A North Surry High School Greyhound Fan Fest is scheduled for Friday just before the opening home football game against Ashe County.
President of the North Surry High School Booster Kathyrn Freed said the fundraiser will be a fun-filled event open to the public and students. It will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
There will be games and activities including a Frisbee throw, football toss, hole-in-one, baseball throw, soccer kick and a chance to win a corn hole set with a North Surry logo made by John Palmer. There also will be games for young kids.
Foods and drinks will be available including sandwiches, French fries, nachos, funnel cakes and snow cones.
Principal Neil Atkins, Assistant Principal Brandon Whitaker and softball coach Willie Hodges will offer their support by volunteering to sit in a dunking booth.
Freed said the money raised will go toward football, tennis, cheerleading, wrestling and volleyball uniforms. There also will be money for a scholarship fund for seniors.
“We hope to make it an annual event and a hearty tradition,” said Freed.
