North Surry bounced back from an opening-night loss to East Surry to overwhelm East Wilkes in soccer.

The Greyhounds ended the game early on the mercy rule for a 9-0 win.

Daniel Garcia earned a hat trick with three goals, and Caleb Ramey added two scores.

One goal each came from Alex Jones, Alexis Cortes, David Martinez and Victor Casas.

Alfredo Vazquez was dominant in midfield, said Coach Rachel Escobar. He also had an assist, as did Casas, Martinez, Cortes, Garcia and Ramey.

“Dulio Hernandez, Wyatt Easter and Victor Casas were all essential in defense,” said the coach.

North Surry (1-1) has a rematch with East when the Cardinals come to town Monday evening.
