DOBSON — Surry Central beat Wilkes Central 5-1 in soccer Monday evening.

The Golden Eagles scored twice in the first half and three times more in the second half for a 5-0 lead.

The home team’s bid for a shutout ended when the visiting Eagles scored with about 10 seconds left in the game, according to Coach Blake Roth.

“Adrian Gonzalez played a good game at center mid and had two assists,” said Roth.

The team did some good things, but still has a lot of work left to do, he said.

Osber Valle scored the first goal of the game, then Jose Avalos added a second.

After halftime, Central received goals from Fredy Cruz, Moises Pineda and Luis Carafia.

The Golden Eagles (2-0) travel to East Surry on Wednesday, then go to Statesville to face West Iredell on Thursday.
